                                                      weekly diaries

week1: the week starting 15th march i got set unit 12 FMP. throughout the whole of this week i spent time putting together ideas for my final project, this included completing my proposal form. at the beginning of the week i had the idea to release content onto a website alongside working with production students. as the week went on my idea developed and i make the decision to put together a documentary. this is going to take a lot of planning, research and time but i am dedicated and want to produce the best piece of work that i am able to. During this week i also contacted production tutor Paul young:

this gave me reassurance that i will have reliable students to work alongside with. this allows me to plan and prepare in enough time of my release date 20th may.

Week2: The week starting 22nd of march was mainly focused on the technical side of the project. i found a camera i feel is good quality and is perfect for the type of content i want to film, i also went down to the booths to test out lighting. i took photos to look back on as well as evidence.

looking back on these photos i am happy with the outcome, i wont have problems with filming and capturing behind the scenes in these booths. there is also plenty of space to film from different angles which will enable me to create good content for the documentary.

week3: During the week beginning 29th April i started to plan out dates and make a timeline. i also tested out my camera for the second time by making an informative video introducing myself and what i will be doing for my final project. this will be uploaded onto my wix website that i will be making to upload all content.

Week 4:

starting off this week i made a completely new Wix website to upload FMP content as well as my finished documentary. I have been adding pieces of content to get the website started. So far i am enjoying putting my work together and i'm loving the way this website i created looks.

Week 5:

Unfortunately this week didn't go to plan, Thursday the 29th of April i had planned to start filming with production student Toby. The day of he ended up cancelling on me, this meant we had to reschedule. This put me back on my plan, meaning i couldn't start editing or putting together short clips that i can promote. I will now be filming with Toby on the 13th of may, which is pretty close to my deadline, making it a tight squeez for me to get all of my work done.

Week 6: This week i was able to start filming and capturing content. I met up with Jena Harris, festival and event management student to film behind the scenes interview clips with the band Stone lane. This went well in my opinion, conversation was flowing and they were a lively group that seemed happy to get their name out more. I enjoyed working with this group of people as everyone was eager to get work done.

Week 7:

Within this week i finished filming all the content that I needed to get done, I filmed with Curtis and Toby this week. I am happy with the content that I was able to get with these two. I'n my opinion I had interesting and personal conversation with them that will make a good documentary.

Week 8:

This week i started to piece all of my work together, meaning i started editing clips and making the documentary. This part of the work i found more difficult as i'm not the greatest at editing, although i enjoyed the experience of doing so it has taught me more skills that i could potentially use in the future.

Week 9:

week 9 was my final week. So spent this time finishing us and perfecting all of the work that i had done over the past 8 weeks, i found this to be quite stressful but i felt proud that i managed to complete my work and feel happy with the outcome.

Evaluation

starting this year off everybody was very apprehensive and was unsure what to think of the year we were about to have. Corona was at its peak and still no events were able to be put on, causing a huge stop within the events community. Being set our FMP was extremely nerve wracking as i was quite unsure of what i wanted to do at first. After taking a week to write down ideas i decided that i was going to create content for social medias, promote music and then create a short video on the side, i was so sure on this idea i wrote my proposal form for it. After thinking harder about it another week later i came to the decision to just create one whole documentary for my FMP.

The first few weeks of the FMP i found quite fun, i was able to explore more creative sides such as filming, editing and interviewing. I have done lots of research on these thing and how to put together your own documentary. Doing research on this really motivated me to create something that i would be proud of. which i am. There were definitely a few bumps in the road especially as the weeks went on. I had trouble making official plans and dates with certain people i was supposed to be working with, however i managed to overcome this anyway and still get plenty of content filmed and edited to fit perfectly. This FMP has really boosted my confidence as it allowed me to work and get to know people that id never met before.

Overall i finished this FMP feeling proud of myself for accomplishing something new that i never would have potentially done before. The interviews ran smoothly in my opinion and they were all filmed together in a short amount of time which left me more time than expected to perfect and edit. I am really pleased with the outcome.
