Culture Channel Part 2

I am going to be taking on the task of putting together and creating content about college life. This will include funny videos, behind the scenes and interviews with students studying other courses such as Stanley and Louis who are both Dj students currently in their second year. I could also create TikTok videos which will last a maximum of one minuet long, I will create multiple of these to capture behind the scenes in the booths as well as humorous videos from mine or my classmates college life. This will give me an idea of the content and how different or similar the college life is for each student i speak with. I will also use my website to promote the other students within music courses , this will be links or socials of their choice as well as a paragraph about them and why they are doing at college. This will not only benefit them but will build up my knowledge on promotion and building up followers for an artist.
Research for project 1

A useful source to use would be college/sixth form vlogs that have been uploaded to YouTube by other students across the country. I can also compare these to my own and see the difference between college and sixth form, as well as different colleges across the country.These videos will be very useful as they are real life, they haven't been glamorized. Another way I can get ideas for content is through the app tiktok, tiktok are one minute videos that can be uploaded with any person with an account. They range from humorous videos, to hauls, hacks and lifestyle. I could create some of these and see if any other student is willing to create one, this would mean I'd be able to compare how different routines are depending on the person and the course they are studying. For behind the scenes I will get videos and photos of beats being created, songs being mixed and DJs messing about with the decks. For inspiration for this I can use videos from YouTube. These videos are simple and the times of them can vary, the whole session could be filmed or there could be a few clips of the important events that occurred. For example:

Resources for project 1
To gain content for my website page the resources I will need other students such as Stanley and Louis who are both Dj students, this will be so i can interview them and promote them. To go along side this i will need access to booths so i can record the behind the scenes of them creating beats or mixing music, as well as DJ equipment. I may also need camera equipment if i decide to record the interviews as well a mic's.
Introduction of project 2/overview of project 1
This is my evaluation and six week documentation on how the first half term went with planning, sorting and creating a pilot for our coming culture channel. Overall i feel that the first six weeks flew by so i had to make sure i was kept up to date with all work that i was needing to accomplish by the deadline date. I thoroughly enjoy creating this culture channel with a group of people as its interesting to see all the different types of content that we are all creating.
week 1:
Week one was our first week back since summer and going into lockdown due to corona virus. This week we where being informed of all our future tasks and how we needed to start to plan what we wanted to do for our website. In this time i came to the decision that i was going to mix about with college lifestyle as behind the scenes.
This was my original plan that i made in project 1:

since making this first plan i have now decided to make it less about music courses and make more relatable content that all students or young people can feel like the can relate to, which is why tiktok is going to be heavily involved as it is what is current and popular right now within our age range.

Week 2:
In week two i started to plan and think of the different types of things i could do for the college lifestyle, i decided that i would record bits from behind the scenes, this could be anything from in our classroom to in the booths with dj's or with music students mixing or crating beats. As well as tips and tiktok videos that people our age are going to find helpful and relatable. This is when i started to do my research, i started to watch many youtube and tiktok videos about life style, what people do in a day as well as funny clips within a college setting.

Week 3:
This week I started to create content, i wrote up interview questions about college lifestyle. This week I finished off by recording an interview with faith, overall this went well however I would like things to be a little more relaxed and natural in my future interviews. I could accomplish this by getting used to each others company and running through questions before just to ensure there will be no awkward pauses.

This was the interview that i had created quickly in lesson with a fellow student, from hearing it back and receiving feedback i decided that i needed to do more research on interviews and learn how to construct one that is going to be successful.

Week 4:
within week four i created a tiktok video which lasted around 60 seconds, i uploaded it onto my personal account and then realised that i will need to make a separate account for the metconnect channel, which i then did after the first upload. This was
the first tiktok i made for the pilot episode and i am that this was the first as it made me realise that i would like to create more helpful content as this is preferable to students.

Week 5:
Week number five i started to plan out my logo which would represent my college lifestyle page on the met connect culture channel. i starded off by drawing out a rough copy on a bit of A3, this was to give me an idea and draw down the first thing i had thought of when you say college lifestyle

I shortly decided after this that this design isn't anything special and wouldn't stand out, i wanted something that was pretty to look at and that would grab peoples attention. At this point i knew i didnt like the original design however i was stumped on what else i would do, this was when i started to do a little bit of research and grab some inspiration.

So from here i then took these photos as inspiration and started to design my own logo. i enjoyed doing this as its something i had never done before but its also for my very own website that ive been working hard to put together.

Week 6:
This was deadline week so everybody was working hard at getting everything done on time as well as it looking presentable and put together. Within this week i was creating my pilot episode for the met connect culture channel. This was very informative as well as fun.
I absolutely loved the design however for my first official launch on the culture channel i realised i need more content, this is because both pieces are short, the video is 1 minute and the interview is around 3 minutes. so this then gave me ideas on what type of content i should produce as well as how much of it for project 2.

Planning/Research for project 2
After completing my pilot for metconnect culture channel i decided that for my first release i wanted to create content that was advice/tips through videos. Some of these will be tiktoks and the main piece would be a well edited longer video on either clothing or routine related. For this i have completed some of my own research and gaind inspiration. By creating this type of content i want people to feel interested and get inspired, weather this is about outfits or doing well at college. I would also like to give advice and share my personal experience within education. I was also thinking about doing a 'blog post' type thing each upload on how to stay motivated at college or in life in general. I would like people to feel like they can relate and think of my page as a friendly and welcome place. Overtime i would like people to interact through email or direct message to either give opinions or future content they would like to see.

For promotion i have created a press release which i am going to post, send out and email to people or accounts who would be interested in my college lifestyle page on the metconnect culture channel. I will also post promotional material on our instagram account @metconnect_ which we are currently trying to gain a following on. A tiktok account now has also been made by me which means i will be continueously posting on there too.

I then created a met connect tiktok account, by this point a logo had been made which i could use as the profile picture as having this would look more appealing to viewers. I Have since uploaded more content and will continue to do so, i would eventually like to gain a nice following which i can interact with to find out what content they prefer or would like to see us upload.

Evaluation
Overall the past six weeks have gone well for me, i have definitely felt more motivated and determined to create good content that i am happy with. I have also enjoyed the process of making my content and i feel that this is evident through my work.

within week 1 of project 2 i decided to slightly change the type of content i was wanting to make. Previously in project 1 my content style was more aimed towards the type of things that we do at college and the way different courses learn, however in project 2 i felt that i would prefer making content that was more helpful and seen as lifestyle tips. This is still relevant to college as i am a student and it takes up a huge part of my life. By doing this i have found it easier to come up with ideas that i feel others would find entertaining and enjoy. From here on i started to brain storm ideas that i could potentially follow through with and use as the first post to the metconnect culture channel. This is when i started to do research which helped me massively with getting inspiration. I was then pulling together loads of video ideas and thinking of how i could execute them in ways i would be happy with and feel that viewers would enjoy also. I massively enjoyed the research part of project 2.
After completing lots of research i then had to start limiting ideas and thinking of what i felt would be the most helpful and entertaining. I already knew that i wanted to create three pieces of content and that tiktok was going to be a part of this as it is very current and what is being used by millions of teen and students. After a few days of going back and fourth i decided to create a video of 'college outfits inspiration' by doing research i have found that videos like these always get great feedback and amazing views. Now having my ideas set and had done research i needed to start creating the content. I firstly filmed lots of videos from behind the scenes of a fellow classmates interview with a music student, with this i then put these clips on tiktok creating a 'behind the scenes' video. I then posted this video which got 143 views. After creating this first piece of content i decided that i would like to do another tiktok. with the second one i did a 'my evening of an events management student' i personally enjoy watching these types of videos as i find them motivating and interesting to see how other students life compares to mine, this got almost 600 views.

Having created two pieces of content i now had to start properly planing for my 'college outfits inspiration' i decided to go onto pinterest and create my own outfits inspiration board which i also used on my college lifestyle page. I hugely enjoyed doing this as i am very into fashion and styling new outfits. After doing this i set a day where i could film. i found that filming went very well however the only con about it is i didn't have high quality camera equipment. I had to use my phone which meant the quality isn't as great as i would have wished it to be. From here the only thing left to do was to edit the video, i did this with i movie which was pretty straight forward. within the last few day before the deadline date i was making sure i had everything that i needed and had uploaded everything to the metconnect page ready to launch on Friday 11th.

Overall i am very happy with the outcome of project 2 and my page for the metconnect culture channel. I think its very suited to me and shows more about my life also.
